British Army promotes the ACE Lifestyle
As part of the ACE Lifestyle package, Hytner were commissioned to construct various items such as a replica Bobsleigh, Traversing climbing wall and interactive map table.
The Interactive map and screen are linked by a programme asking questions for users to answer by pressing one of the buttons. The map has all the answers and when the correct button is pressed the correct answer is highlighted. The backdrop is comprised of an extended world map with visuals identifying areas in the world the British Army operate and these correspond to the answers/questions on the screen/map.
Traversing climbing wall
A traversing climbing wall was constructed from sheet ply on a timber framework in modular sections. It was constructed single sided to enable access to bolt the panels together for stability. Silver sheet metal checker plate flooring was placed to the front and rear of the angled sections to steady with spigot uprights to slot into the framework.
The wall was finished in grey/stone effect and we securely fixed the foot and hand grips to the top area used for heading. Examples of essential equipment required for climbing were positioned to the side along with comprehensive instructions.
A photo opportunity to go viral
A replica metal Bobsleigh was constructed with the external body area sprayed black gloss. Inside is finished in silver with two plastic seats bolted into place on checker plate flooring. Vinyl signage is applied to the exterior including the Army logo. The purpose of supplying this item is for the students to interact by sitting inside thus enabling friends to take photographs.
Opportunities in the Army
The Lifestyle package is designed to show prospective recruits what opportunities there are available in the Army for winter sports. Bobsleigh is one of the fastest winter sports events and the two man and four man teams experience forces similar to those of a jet fighter pilot.
